Originally part of the Morris family estate, prized for its park-like landscape of meadows, farmland, woods and swamp, Claremont Park became part of the NYC park system through the 1884 New Parks Act. Calling all CB 1 community members and friends! The Bronx is Blooming is excited to be a part of this Earth Day celebration in the South Bronx. We will be contributing to the clean up through an afternoon of street tree stewardship.

Join us at St. Mary's Park at the entrance near the dog run from E 143rd St. (St. Mary’s St). The event will run from 2-4pm and is followed by live music, community workshops, and a resource fair in Roberto Clemente Square from 4-6pm!

The Bronx is Blooming is collaborating with the Decatur Block Association for its Car Free Earth Day event!

Volunteers will help with street tree stewardship and plug planting in tree pits.

We will meet at the intersection of Decatur Ave. and E 194th St.

Saturdays on the Sound: Revitalize Soundview Park with Black Forest

Join us at Soundview Park for a morning of tree planting. This event will be in collaboration with Black Forest, a participatory art initiative founded by Brooklyn-based artist, @ekeneijeoma. He is organizing events to record the names and stories of Black lives lost to racial injustices and inequalities and plant trees for them. In the next 8 years, he plans to record over 40,000 stories and plant over 40,000 trees across all 50 states in the US.

This will be the first Black Forest event in NYC. At this event in The Bronx, where our community is disproportionately impacted by asthma, we will plant trees to remember Black Lives and better the environment and health of all communities in the area.

We welcome you to personally dedicate a tree at this event.
