Summer PLACE Mentor

The PLACE Mentor will work alongside BiB’s Youth Program and Environmental Program Managers to facilitate the Summer PLACE Program. As primary duties, the Mentor leads a team of 7-10 Bronx high school to college-aged participants, ages 16-24, in park-based maintenance and environmental stewardship. Groups are also tasked with leading community and corporate stewardship events in Bronx parks. The Mentor’s role is to educate volunteers and PLACE students, coordinate park project logistics, and lead groups in physical tasks designed to protect local environmental resources.

Horticulture Supervisor

The Horticulture Supervisor sets the standard of pace, quality, and training for in-field staff. They will report to the Environmental Program Manager, who will help them design work schedules and lessons for weekly programming for staff and volunteers. The supervisor oversees work by staff and interns ranging from high school students to young adults. Due to the scale of work and variety of job sites, the supervisor drives a company truck between sites, regularly checking in on different crews. The supervisor is also responsible for administrative work reporting and updating horticultural data of the beds and natural areas we work in. In addition, they will report on progress of students, interns, volunteers, and staff.
