Join us at Joyce Kilmer Park for a morning of parks environmental revitalization! Have fun, meet new friends, and get your hands dirty!
This park is named after Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918), poet, journalist, and soldier. Kilmer is most famous for his poem, "Trees," written in 1913. On its 6.88 acres are two monuments: the Louis J. Heintz statue (in honor of the Bronx’s first commissioner of street improvements) and the Lorelei fountain (celebrating German poet, Heinrich Heine (1797-1856)). (NYC Parks)
Learn about the local environment while spending a morning outside gardening. You may be planting, mulching, protecting young trees, and/or removing invasive species.
Our meeting spot will be Mullaly Park South - enter the park on 164th street between Jerome and River Avenues. There will be a building to your right, next to the basketball courts. We will meet in front of that building.
